2022 sees the launch of our Bits for Trees initiative, for greater sustainability and for the protection of German primeval beech forests. The initiative will run for 50 years and is aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and preserving a unique natural area – part of the few local remaining primeval beech forests that UNESCO has designated a World Heritage Site.

Ancient beech forests are Europe’s rainforests, and they are in a sorry state. We will actively contribute to protecting ancient forests through Wohlleben’s Forest Academy. Through the Academy, Bits for Trees, emitted and bound CO2 can be directly linked, meaning that we are (also) turning the primeval forest project into a benefit for you, our customers. For each software license unit*, we lease one square meter in the primeval beech forest reserve in Germany’s Eifel. We are linking our core business processes with this environmental protection measure and with each new client, our sponsorship of Germany’s largest and unique ancient forest project grows.

*A license unit is defined as a business which uses our software – regardless of modules, workstations and access.
